Church History

Covenant LifeHouse Ministries was born from a desire to bring people into a covenant relationship with the Lord. In July 2004, the initial vision for the church was revealed.   More and more details presented themselves as the Lord continued preparing the founding pastor for his new work. In early 2007, the Lord identified twelve prayer warriors who began to pray together every week for twelve (12) weeks (April to July 2007). In the months that followed, prayers for the church continued as plans were formulated.

On October 17, 2007, the first Bible Study began in the Powell’s basement with over 20 people in attendance. The following month, November 2007,Covenant LifeHouse was officially incorporated with the State of Maryland.

Bible Study continued through early 2008. At the same time, more people embraced and accepted the Lord’s vision and the core team grew to 18 people.  The 18 founding members are: Pastor Joseph and Linda Powell; Reston and Shayla Powell; Elder Calvin, Carolyn and Dominique Mason; Ron, Sherrill, and Trey Cole; Terry and Angela Stowes; Rev. Terry Holland; Allie Thomas; Rita Harley, and Ronda, Patrice, and Payge Jennings.

The core team held several planning meetings in February 2008 to prepare for Covenant LifeHouse’s first worship service. An agreement was reached with Hebron-Harman Elementary School in Hanover, Maryland and the first service was held Sunday, March 9, 2008.

In 2009, the church Executive Council made two major decisions. First, the board voted to enhance the church’s name in order to better reflect its mission. Thus,Covenant LifeHouse became Covenant LifeHouse Ministries. The second decision was to move to a more permanent home.  In December 2010, after a few setbacks and much prayer, Covenant LifeHouse Ministries moved into its current location at 508 McCormick Drive, Suites M-P, Glen Burnie, Maryland.

Since its birth, Covenant LifeHouse Ministries has seen a steady growth in ministry development and changed lives.
